Plenary session of the European Parliament at which it is expected to have voting on a draft resolution on Srebrenica began this morning in Strasbourg.

Representatives of the major political groups in the European Parliament yesterday agreed on a draft resolution.

Resolution on Srebrenica was introduced into the agenda after the proposal by Croatian MEP Ivan Jakovčić proposed earlier this month, was first rejected and then accepted in an emergency procedure.

The draft condemns the war crime in Srebrenica, which in line with the judgments of the ICTY and the International Court of Justice is classified as genocide.

As the responsible ones for the mass execution of more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys from Srebrenica, the draft indicates the "Bosnian Serb forces under the command of General Ratko Mladić, with the participation of irregular and paramilitary units."

“It is the biggest war crime that took place in Europe after the World War II, states the draft of the resolution.

The harmonized text of the resolution reminds that about 1,200 Srebrenica are still missing, as well as that thousands of women and children had been deported, and many women were raped.
