The British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Matthew Field said today that the established COVAX mechanism, which made the first delivery of coronavirus vaccines to B&H today, has ensured low vaccine prices for everyone.

The United Kingdom, he says, has provided GBP 1.3 billion in aid to bring end to the pandemic as soon as possible, of which GBP 548 million is for COVAX.

-But this is truly a global endeavor with a large number of those who participate in it and contribute to it. Vaccines save lives and reduce the number of hospitalized people. Research shows that Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines are highly efficient and safe- Field said.

He emphasized that everyone has a long way to go and that more vaccines need to be produced, but everyone is aware that no one is safe until everyone is.

The first quantities of vaccines for Bosnia and Herzegovina from the COVAX mechanism arrived today at the Sarajevo Airport. These are 23,400 doses of BioNTech/Pfizer vaccines, and as announced by the COVAX mechanism, 26,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines should be delivered in the evening.

The vaccines that arrived in B&H will be forwarded to the Federation of B&H, the entity of Republic of Srpska and the Brčko District.
