Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković, during today's participation at the GLOBSEC Forum being held in Prague, said that European countries, namely the European Union, should choose a new High Representative to the Peace Implementation Council (PIC), rather than blindly follow the policy of the United States.
Konaković emphasized that this can be done simply because the European Union countries together with the United Kingdom as a European country almost have a majority in the PIC.
- We have the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) which will decide who will be the High Representative. You have Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom and a representative of the European Union. That is five out of ten. They almost have the majority to decide. Unfortunately, as if they are still waiting for what the United States will say, said Konaković.
He added that he hopes the EU will show leadership and vision regarding policy towards BiH.
- Now is the time for the European Union to show that it has vision, strength and leadership. We see open doors, but now we need energy from the EU. We are completely aligned on EU security and foreign policy, and we must wait at the border with the European Union. Something is wrong there, we need to be honest. If the EU is ready, we can have a new High Representative in June. This can be done in just two weeks, if they are brave, if they know what they want to do and if they simply do not blindly follow the position of the USA, concluded Konaković.
