Employees of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the security agency left the "Lipa" Reception Camp, after a fire in the tents and great dissatisfaction of more than 1,300 users of the camp's services at this location.

The incident was preceded by the announcement of the departure of the employed staff due to the unconditionality of the camp for winter conditions and the communication of that decision to migrants and refugees.

The Una-Sana Canton Police and the Bihać Fire Brigade have brought the situation under control in the last hour, while a number of former users of the camp's services have already headed to Bihać, which is about thirty kilometers away from the Lipa site.

- This is a terrible day for all of us, both for migrants and refugees, and for the population of Una-Sana Canton, but also for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We tried in every way to avoid this scenario, but this time we did not have adequate support from the competent institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Breakfast and some necessities were distributed to the users of the services this morning, and they were informed about everything that was happening. We are forced to leave this location, but we are ready to help in any other way - said the head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in B&H, Peter Van der Auweraert.

An extraordinary session of the Assembly of the Una-Sana Canton is underway, and a reaction from the Ministry of Security of B&H is expected during the day.
