Coronavirus in B&H: 705 new infections and 35 deaths reported

During the last 24 hours, 705 newly infected persons were reported in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Of that number, 472 ARE IN FB&H and 233 in RS. At least 35 people died - 17 from FB&H and 18 from RS.

2,346 samples were reported to the Public Health Institute of the Federation of B&H, of which 472 were positive for the virus. New cases have been registered in all cantons in the Federation of B&H. A total of 329,743 samples have been tested so far, and the virus has been confirmed in 69,935 cases.

In the past 24 hours,430 patients recovered.There are currently 17,260 active cases. 17 new deaths were reported to the Public Health Institute of the Federation of B&H.

During the last 24 hours, 838 laboratory samples were tested in Republic of Srpska, and coronavirus was confirmed in 233 cases. At the same time, 18 deaths were reported as a result of COVID-19.

The RS Institute of Public Health announced that 133 men and 100 women were infected, of which 36 were younger, 121 middle-aged and 76 older people.

In the last 24 hours, the Republic of Srpska Institute of Public Health has reported 18 deaths in which the presence of coronavirus has been confirmed. From these, there are 13 men and five women, middle-aged and older, of whom three are from Banja Luka, two from Laktaši and Doboj and one each from Zvornik, Novi Goražde, Foča, Prijedor, Prnjavor, Mrkonjić Grad, Bijeljina, Ribnik, Kneževo, Čelinac and Teslić.


In Sarajevo Canton 116 newly infected, another person died

According to the data of the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton, 116 new cases of coronavirus infection in the Sarajevo Canton have been confirmed in the past 24 hours. This number is the result of an analysis conducted on over 685 samples collected between December 20th and 23rd this year.

69 infected persons, ie 59.48 percent of them, belong to the family clusters or are contacts of the previously infected, and they are already in self-isolation.

At the same time, 177 persons recovered from COVID-19, which is a data that still confirms the continuation of the positive trend, according to which a higher number of recovered persons was registered in Canton Sarajevo compared to the number of newly infected persons. 198 people are hospitalized at the clinics and in the Isolation of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo at Podhrastovi (140) and the General Hospital (58), of which six patients use mechanical respiratory support during breathing.

There are 20 patients on non-invasive ventilation. One death was registered, so that the number of deaths from the consequences of COVID-19 was increased to 359. Currently, 1,676 cases of coronavirus infection are active in the Sarajevo Canton.

From January 30th to December 23rd this year, a total of 23,613 people infected with coronavirus were registered, of which 21,578 recovered.
