Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković met today in Brussels with Vice President of the European Commission for Promoting the European Way of Life Margaritis Schinas.

Turković expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina during the first waves of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She pointed out the problems that our country is facing in the procurement of coronavirus vaccines and stressed that we expect significantly greater EU involvement in providing vaccines for B&H through the COVAX mechanism, which would send a strong political message.

Vice President of the European Commission Schinas emphasized the importance of Minister Turković's visit to Brussels, which, as he said, symbolizes Bosnia and Herzegovina's commitment on the path to the European Union. He pointed out the importance of the issue of vaccines and that he is in constant contact with the member states in order to speed up this process. However, the delicate balance of supply and demand makes this situation more difficult, Schinas added.

The officials also discussed the establishment of religious and interreligious dialogue as well as migration management in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Vice President of the European Commission assessed the continuation of activities for the improvement of the migration management process in Bosnia and Herzegovina as extremely important.

Both sides expressed a desire for stronger cooperation in all issues related to the EU integration process, the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of B&H announced.
