Today, the US Embassy responded to Avaz's request to comment on the statements of SNSD leader and B&H Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik, who called for secession and the formation of a Commission for the peaceful separation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as statements by SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović, who said that he cannot claim that there will be no war in B&H, and if there is a war, that he will stand in front of the people to lead them into battle.

- The citizens of B&H deserve more from their leaders than disruptive action with the aim of diverting attention from initiating primary economic and electoral reforms, and reforms in the field of rule of law with which will help this country will move forward. The inflammatory rhetoric that speaks of war, secessionism and B&H is dangerous, irresponsible and unacceptable. As for the status of B&H as a state, it is not the opinions about it that are important, but the facts and international law. The territorial integrity and sovereignty of B&H are guaranteed by the Dayton Peace Agreement. Neither Dayton nor the B&H Constitution gives the right to secede to either of the two entities. Any action aimed at dismantling B&H is a violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement. No entity has a future outside B&H.

The position of the USA on the issue of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the future of B&H as a single state destined for the Euro-Atlantic community is well known and unchanged. We are committed to the principles of Dayton - Bosnia and Herzegovina is a democratic, multiethnic, sovereign and independent state with unquestionable territorial integrity - it is stated in the answer for "Avaz" portal from the Public Relations Office of the US Embassy.
