B&H Border police arrests two persons for smuggling migrants by boat from Serbia

The remaining 11 smuggled persons, who stated that they came from Eritrea, Afghanistan, Sudan, Pakistan, Togo and Syria, will be heard as witnesses with the help of a certified translator

Members of the Zvornik Border Police Unit prevented the smuggling of migrants with the help of the Special Team for the Prevention of Illegal Migration in the early morning hours on Friday in the Zvornik municipality, in the town of Kozluk.

After spotting a boat arriving from the direction of the Republic of Serbia, which was moving over the Drina River towards the territory of B&H, during the surveillance of the state border and with the use of specialist equipment, members of the Border Police Unit Zvornik stopped a boat with 13 people of Afro-Asian origin.

Under the supervision of the acting prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of B&H, the border police searched two persons (according to the statement of Afghan citizens) who were driving the boat, as they were suspected of committing the crime of smuggling of persons.

Both persons have been deprived of liberty and they will be handed over to the Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of B&H together with the Report on the committed criminal offense.

The remaining 11 smuggled persons, who stated that they came from Eritrea, Afghanistan, Sudan, Pakistan, Togo and Syria, will be heard as witnesses with the help of a certified translator and handed over to the competent Service for Foreigners Affairs for further proceeding.
