A Moscow court fined on Thursday social media platform Facebook for 17 million rubles (more than $236,500) and messaging app Telegram for 10 million rubles (over $139,000).

At a hearing in Moscow, the Tagansky city court granted Russia's communications watchdog Roskomnadzor for fining Facebook and Telegram, ruling that the companies did not comply with the legislation to delete content, banned in Russia.

Roskomnadzor had previously filed lawsuits against social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter on similar grounds.
