The new High Representative in B&H, Christian Schmidt, has arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the "Avaz" portal has learned.

Schmidt was taken over by members of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of B&H (DKPT B&H) a few minutes ago at the Ivanica border crossing between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.

He is scheduled to arrive in Sarajevo in the evening. He arrived in B&H from Dubrovnik in a private vehicle, after which the DKPT B&H took him over. He will travel to Mostar first.

Schmidt formally takes office on Monday, August 2nd. Officially, he will take up the position on August 1st. We learn that the handover will be held on August 2nd in Sarajevo.

- If we want to lead BiH into the EU and transform it into a democratic country, we must not have a purely ethnic orientation, he said in an interview with DW before coming to B&H.
