President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina tomorrow as part of a regional visit to the Western Balkans, announced the office of the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The visit is in the context of the European Commission's recent recommendation that Bosnia and Herzegovina be granted candidate status in order to emphasize the message that the country's future is within the European Union.

The President will refer to the ongoing energy crisis and show the EU's determination to support partners in addressing high energy prices and the long-term improvement of their energy security.

During the visit, President von der Leyen will meet with members of the BiH Presidency, address representatives of political life, civil society, culture and the business community, and solemnly open the Ivan Tunnel on Corridor 5C.

The European Union has invested 23.3 million euros for the Tarčin-Ivan section and for the Ivan Tunnel, which is part of the total EU grant support for Corridor 5-c in the amount of 542 million euros.
