Football club Sarajevo found itself facing a major challenge at the beginning of the summer transfer window after FIFA placed the maroon club on the list of teams banned from registering new players.
According to available data from FIFA's disciplinary measures register, the ban took effect on June 16, 2026 and applies to the next three transfer windows. Such a sanction means that Sarajevo, while the ban is active, will not be able to register new players in men's competition.
FIFA typically places clubs on its ban list due to unresolved financial disputes, debts to players or coaches, as well as other regulatory violations related to transfers and player registration.
For Sarajevo, this decision comes at a very sensitive moment, given that the club is actively working on forming a team for the new season and European challenges. If the sanction is not lifted in the coming period, the coaching staff will be forced to rely on the existing squad and players from the youth academy.
It remains to be seen whether the club will be able to resolve the issue in the short term and meet any conditions necessary to lift the ban before the transfer window enters its final phase.
