Sarajevan Vladimir Petković, together with two other Bosnians with Swiss sports citizenship - Haris Seferović from Sanski Most and Mario Gavranović from Gradačac, who scored two goals each, sent home the first favorite and world champion – France 8: 7 penalties (3:3) from Euro 2020 last night. Seferović scored goals for 1: 0 and 3: 2, and Gavranović for 3: 3 in the referee's compensation, and from the penalty spot...

That defeat sobered us up

- A sensation, but we played superbly - said the always modest selector of the Swiss national team Petković for "Avaz" and added:

- I believed in the team, which came back to us after Italy (0: 3 - op.a.). That defeat sobered us up, so we played a great game against the Turks (3: 1) and the favored French. I think we deservedly went against the team that named by far the best squad.

There is no need to waste words on the quality of the "Tricolor" players...

- I read the some announcements, that Mbappe is worth as much as the entire Swiss national team

The market value of the French player, according to the German Transfermarkt, is over a billion euros.

- Yeah, they're worth a lot ...

However, before the match, our football expert bravely stated for "Avaz": We are not without chances against the French national team...

- I believed in our team. However, this will be talked about in Switzerland for decades - this placement. And lately, we left the three final tournaments of the big competitions after the eighth finals, we couldn't get to the quarterfinals. Few believed we could oust the French. That’s why after the game there was - so to speak, chaos all over Switzerland. People took to the streets, it was a big celebration, as if we had become world champions.

Celebration in Sarajevo

To the conclusion that the match was closely followed in Sarajevo, in numerous cafes, gardens ... and even especially celebrated the goals of Seferović and Gavranović, but also the victory, Petković adds:

- I am glad to hear that, especially if we have made Bosnians and Herzegovinians at least a little happy, and they definitely need more joy ... - Petković points out.
