Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković, speaking for the Bljesak podcast, said he intends to travel to the United States again and that BiH will engage a new lobbying firm in the US.
"We have quite well controlled those lobbying activities of Dodik's, so to speak, and we had in one period and now we are engaging a new lobbying firm again, who, with the mediation of Bosnians and Herzegovinians, did an interesting part of the work in preparation for our actions," Konaković said.
When asked about the amounts that lobbying firms receive, Konaković said it was about "serious amounts".
"It is one lobbying firm that, right after we finished with it, Dodik engaged and thereby confirmed that we did a good job. Except that he has several different ones," he said.
Konaković said that Dodik has a very strong Israeli lobbying line in the US.
Konaković's first attempt was not successful
After signing a lobbying contract with an American firm, Konaković was called to the BiH Prosecutor's Office in October 2025, where he was questioned on the matter.
"At the BiH Prosecutor's Office there are cases involving Elmedin Konaković, the Foreign Minister of BiH. In one of the cases, he was questioned in the capacity of a witness. We cannot provide further information or details," the Prosecutor's Office said at the time.
Konaković later told the media that he was joking about engaging lobbyists through the Ministry and that he personally signed the contract.
"They called me to the BiH Prosecutor's Office a month ago in the capacity of a witness. I didn't know what case it was about. When I arrived, the prosecutor was correct and her investigator. They ask me, is this your statement on Klix when I said that Kajganić (Chief State Prosecutor, ed.) opened an investigation against me personally because I was joking at the BiH Council of Ministers that lobbying in America goes through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, that I personally signed that contract. That is impossible because I don't have that position. It would be illegal if I did," Konaković said on Saturday evening.
The Istraga portal published the text of the contract, which was signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with American businessmen of BiH origin.
"Almas Šehić and his friend Mirza Pilaković found themselves, as we learned, in trouble when payments were made to their accounts for 'lobbying'. According to Istraga's information, that money was collected by entrepreneurs from BiH. However, the problem is the fact that the contracting party was the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH and the contract stated that 'lobbying' for Bosnia and Herzegovina should be carried out without compensation. Therefore, it was not clear to anyone in the banking sector on what basis the entrepreneurs paid money for lobbying, if they had not signed such a contract. And so, in short, Minister Elmedin Konaković's deal of the century fell through," wrote the Istraga portal.
