European Council President Antonio Costa met with members of BiH's Presidency, and afterwards they addressed the public.

As during the previous visit, an image of discord was once again sent to the world, between BiH Presidency chair Denis Bećirović and Presidency member Željka Cvijanović.

BiH Presidency chair Denis Bećirović thanked Antonio Costa for BiH's support.

- I emphasized the importance of the EUFOR Althea mission. We appreciate the cooperation and support of the EU, EU member states and other allies, who helped us stop a dangerous attack on the constitutional order in 2025. BiH has achieved certain results on the path to the EU, they decided to give BiH candidate status, and in 2024 accession negotiations opened. We have fully aligned our foreign and security policy with EU policy. Cooperation with EUROPOL is operational, but nevertheless, regardless of the results, the dynamics of the path to the EU are not at a serious level. We are witnessing obstruction on the European path. The RS leadership listens to directives from Moscow and blocks the European path. They are trying to align their policy with Moscow, not Brussels. These are not my personal assessments, these are reports from the European Parliament, the European Commission. They are even sharper in their reports than I spoke today - said Bećirović.

He added that the European Union is a dominant foreign trade partner of BiH and the entire Western Balkans.

- The key challenge for BiH remains the deficit, but the positive level of exports to the EU is high, and everything can be transformed into more investments. The international community played a major role in creating the Dayton Peace Agreement. Without a High Representative, blockades and obstructions could not be resolved due to the possibility of ethnic veto. The RS leadership does not hide what their objectives are, they want to undermine key elements of the Dayton Peace Agreement and preconditions for secession. They have signed lobbying contracts where these objectives are explicitly stated. All of this threatens to return BiH to the 1990s. Weakening the role of the OHR should not be allowed for this reason. This could be the beginning of dangerous destabilization with unpredictable consequences. That is why the appointment of a new representative must be made through the PIC and its role should not be reduced - he said.

BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović said that Costa is a friend of all peoples in BiH.

- It is always a pleasure to talk with him. A correction, we did not discuss the NATO path, as Bećirović said. We discussed the path to the EU. We did not discuss the PIC either. We have three members of BiH's Presidency and since I represent the RS, I support ending the office of the High Representative, unnamed foreigners should be banned from making decisions. The High Representative does not represent a guarantee of survival, but rather the constituent peoples and our institutions are. We support the American proposal after years of unlawful behavior. We don't pretend to rewrite anything for ourselves. We believe the OHR should be closed immediately, we understand that this is an exit option now. This does not align with either the European path or sovereignty. We must make decisions independently. I don't think this exit option, the transitional period, is good, but it is good for us and further communication with the EU. I believe we are good partners even when we don't deliver everything expected of us - said Cvijanović.

Bećirović addressed again after Costa's remarks and said that members of BiH's Presidency do not represent entities.

- They represent the state of BiH, because the state is not the sum of two entities, the state existed without entities, and can exist without entities.

The BiH Presidency member said that BiH will not be without entities.

- I would never usurp and claim to speak on behalf of my colleagues - she said.
