This morning, the Prosecutor's Office of B&H confirmed for "Dnevni Avaz" that this judicial institution, and after the High Representative Valentin Inzko announced the decision on changes to the Criminal Code in B&H on Friday, has already started receiving reports from several citizens.

Namely, amendments to the Criminal Code of B&H imposed by High Representative Valentin Inzko on July 23 were published in the "Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina" yesterday.

As explained by the Office of the High Representative of B&H (OHR), the law enters into force eight days after its publication on the OHR website or the day after its publication in the "Official Gazette of B&H".

This means that the new provisions of the B&H Criminal Code come into force today. The imposed amendments to the B&H Criminal Code also include prison sentences.

The decision shall state that whoever publicly incites violence or hatred directed against a group of persons or a member of a group determined by race, color, religion, origin or national or ethnic affiliation, if such conduct does not constitute a criminal offense referred to in paragraph (1) of this member, shall be punished by imprisonment for a term between three months and three years.

Whoever publicly approves, denies, grossly diminishes or attempts to justify the crime of genocide, a crime against humanity or a war crime established by a final judgment, shall be punished by imprisonment for a term between six months and five years.


Whoever awards recognition, prize, monument, any reminder...

If the criminal offense is committed in a manner that may disturbS public order or peace or is threatening, abusive or offensive, the perpetrator shall be punished by imprisonment for a term not less than three years.

Whoever awards a recognition, prize, monument, any reminder or any privilege or the like to a person convicted of genocide, a crime against humanity or a war crime, or names a public object such as a street, square, park, bridge, institution, municipality or city, settlement or similar, or registers the name of a person convicted of a genocide, a crime against humanity or a war crime, or in any way glorifies a person convicted of a genocide, a crime against humanity or a war crime, shall be punished by imprisonment for a term not less than three years.
