After six months of inadmissible delay, the Government of FB&amp;H yesterday, unanimously, made a decision on the urgent procurement of 500,000 doses of vaccine "Sputnik V".
Masks have fallen.
The first question is why the Government of FB&amp;H did not do this on its own initiative a few months ago?
The second question is why Novalić lazily waited for the FB&amp;H Parliament - on the alarming proposal of SBB MP prof. Dr. Kacila - practically ordered the urgent formation of the Ad Hoc Commission, which within 24 hours, without any difficulties, operatively invited the bidders, ie domestic wholesalers to apply for the purchase of larger quantities of vaccines.
Couldn't the FB&amp;H Government have done that on its own a long time ago?
It has all the competencies and its institutions to do what Novalić did for the weekend, with a big and inadmissible delay - he sent Letters of Intent to about twenty addresses?

Secondly, how will the SDA leadership and their followers now be able to convince someone that vaccines could not be procured, because this is supposedly prevented by the Law on Public Procurement "whose amendments have not been adopted"

Yesterday's unanimous decision of the FB&amp;H Government unequivocally confirmed that the mentioned Law was not an obstacle at all.
We can only pray to Dear God that the planned contingent of 500,000 vaccines arrives within the promised deadline.
Thus, the Federation of B&amp;H, but also the Bosniaks, would finally cease to be the only area in Europe (and much wider), where the authorities have not yet enabled their people to even start mass immunization.
Did we have to wait for such a large number of deaths and new cases for Mr. Novalić to come out of the respiratory nightmare and only under the pressure of the FB&amp;H Parliament technically announce and solve, practically, the most ordinary tender?
Thousands of them are completed in the public and private sectors every year, without any problems?
Families of those who died unnecessarily and those who are about to die (because it will take at least a month or two to feel the positive results of mass immunization), and thousands of those who will unnecessarily ger over coronavirus and have lasting health consequences, our people has the right to be very dissatisfied and angry.
Especially if it turns out to be true that the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Moscow, at the end of January, officially sent a letter and contact to Minister Turković for direct, much cheaper and more timely procurement of one million doses of "Sputnik V".

At an emergency session last night, the Government of the Federation of B&amp;H took note of the information about the implementation of the market research procedure, negotiations with vaccine manufacturers and/or authorized distributors for the purpose of procuring coronavirus vaccines (COVID-19), prepared by the Ad hoc team.

Based on this information and assessment of the offered prices, the delivery deadlines, the offered quantities and guarantees for good performance, the Government instructed the Public Health Institute of the Federation of B&amp;H, without delay, to conclude an agreement for the procurement of vaccines with the only bidder that submitted a complete bid - Medimpex Sarajevo (that will procure Sputnik V vaccine).
The total amount of vaccines that will be procured under the contract is 500,000 doses.
The contract should define that the bidder guarantees good job performance, that the quantity of the first contingent is at least 100,000 vaccines, and the deadline for its delivery is three working days from the day of signing the letter of credit.
The contract will define that the payment of the total price will be made successively, after the delivery of vaccines and obtaining the approval of the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of B&amp;H for the use of the vaccine.
The government has instructed the Ad Hoc team to continue working with all other bidders that need additional time for submission of bids or possibly new bidders, which will subsequently appear, to continue negotiations for the procurement of additional quantities of vaccines.
The FB&amp;H Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health are in charge of immediately undertaking activities for the redistribution of funds planned in the Budget of the Federation of B&amp;H for 2021 to the Public Health Institute of the Federation of B&amp;H, for the procurement of coronavirus vaccines (COVID-19), stated the FB&amp;H Government.&nbsp;

AstraZeneca's Covid vaccine shot is safe and there is no evidence of health risks, the UK's health minister wrote in a newspaper article published on Wednesday, after some EU countries halted rollouts over fears of blood clots.

Matt Hancock urged the British public to take the vaccine even after countries including France, Spain and Germany suspended it.
The European Medicines Agency, which previously approved the jab, is conducting a review of the vaccine but said in the meantime it remained convinced of its benefits.

- Exactly one year ago, at the truly traumatic beginning of the pandemic and corona crisis, as state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we had a coordinated response to the pandemic.
Sanitary teams were at the borders, the Coordination Body for Protection and Rescue was more than active, we took care of the timely procurement of medical equipment, medicines and donations, records were kept of each patient and they were controlled are they in self-isolation ...
Intercity bus traffic was prohibited, gatherings, we had many more other measures and fewer deaths. All measures were coordinated at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the Council of Ministers and the governments of the Federation of B&amp;H and the Republic of Srpska and all ten cantons.
Crisis staffs have been activated. The health services have been united, and all police resources have been activated, even some members of the B&amp;H Armed Forces. The Council of Ministers held emergency telephone sessions several times a week and resolved problems immediately. There was, at least through the Ministry of Security of B&amp;H and myself, an excellent operational connection with the Presidency of B&amp;H and all its members.
Today, to the great regret and shame, there is no activity in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Turković, Cikotić and Podžić do not see each other at all and do not have or do not want to show the capacity of mediation and agility in the Council of Ministers and towards their colleagues in it.
Ministers from the SNSD and HDZ seem to deliberately want to compromise any need for the existence of a state level in resolving the historical crisis that is becoming cataclysmic. That is why I call on Turković, Cikotić and even Podžić, to start working immediately.
If Minister Cikotić is not informed how it is possible for the Bi&amp; Council of Ministers to work and coordinate much better and more successfully, Ms. Turković and Požić know how - they were there and sat next to me, as we coordinated, initiated and dynamized the faster and more responsible work of the Council of Ministers.
Bosniaks have no other choice in the situation of mass deaths and late procurement and arrival of larger quantities of vaccines, but to publicly demand that their representatives finally react adequately and act at least approximately as they did a year ago - wrote Radončić.

NATO’s ability to defend remained undiminished despite last year’s challenges, the NATO secretary-general said on Tuesday.

Presenting NATO’s annual report, Jens Stoltenberg described 2020 as “dominated by the pandemic which changed our lives, our economies and our societies.”
-But NATO's ability to defend our nations’ populations remained as strong as it was- Stoltenberg stressed, praising the allies' “steady increase in defense spending” that has been rising for the sixth consecutive year.
He also warned that “security challenges haven’t gone away” during the pandemic, naming terrorism, cyber-attacks, "Russia’s aggressive foreign policy," the rise of China, and security implications of climate change as the most important threats for the military alliance.
-No country, no continent can tackle them alone- Stoltenberg said.
He also highlighted that trust in the alliance and the principle of collective defense remained significant for the population of NATO countries.
According to the latest polls, 62% of people would vote to remain a NATO ally if a referendum was held, and only 11% would vote against membership.
Similarly, 79% of the citizens in allied countries find the transatlantic cooperation important.

The benefits of using AstraZeneca vaccines outweigh the risk, the director of the European Medicine Agency (EMA) said on Tuesday.

Experts of the EMA will conclude their assessment on Thursday whether blood clots are side effects of AstraZeneca vaccines or the reported cases present a coincidence, Emer Cooke told journalists.
She said that work was still ongoing for the final scientific conclusion, but the EMA's opinion remains the same for the time being "benefits outweigh the risks of side effects."
The EMA director stressed that the agency's safety committee, with the involvement of international partners and experts in thrombosis, had been evaluating all safety risks related to the British-Swedish jab since last week.
-The number of thrombotic events with vaccinated people doesn't seem higher than in the entire population- Cooke added.
She went on to say, "when you vaccinate millions, it is inevitable to have incidents."
She stressed several thousand Europeans develop blood clots every day, and clinical trials had not even listed the risk of blood clots or thrombosis as a possible side effect of the jab.
The EU regulator director declined to answer questions on whether problems were related to a specific batch of vaccines or a production side but reassured that experts were doing a case-by-case evaluation.
Over the past week, several European countries – including Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway – suspended the use of AstraZeneca jab after blood clots were reported in some vaccinated people.

B&amp;H Presidency member Šefik Džaferović said after a meeting between the B&amp;H Presidency and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the visit confirmed the extremely good and friendly relations between the two countries.

They also discussed how to make the best use of the Free Trade Agreement, which was signed by the Presidency and subsequently ratified by the parliaments of both countries.
-It is important to know that we have signed a Free Trade Agreement with Turkey, which gives Bosnia and Herzegovina privileges that no other country in the world has in trade relations with Turkey- Džaferović stated.

Swiss pharma giant Roche announced Tuesday the launch of a new test to help researchers find coronavirus variants which are feared to be more harmful or could undermine vaccines.

The new laboratory test is designed to detect mutations on the virus and monitor their prevalence and potential impact on infection, vaccines and therapies to combat Covid-19, the disease it causes, Roche said in a statement.
-Continuous surveillance is essential to public health- Roche said.
The appearance of variants has caused much concern in recent months with those from the UK, Brazil and South Africa in particular widely believed to be more transmissible and possibly more dangerous.
Roche's new test can be run on its Cobas 6800/8800 machines which are widely used in research laboratories and hospitals, it said.
Roche has been a pioneer in coronavirus testing since the virus first surfaced in China in late 2019 before spreading around the world.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina today and present a donation from the National Directorate General for Hospitals of Hungary to Bosnia and Herzegovina, consisting of 40,032 PCR tests, Maccura brand, worth 163,850,976 HUF. 

Minister Szijjártó will hand over the tests to the Minister of Civil Affairs of B&amp;H, Ankica Gudeljević, and to the representatives of the competent health authorities of the entities and the Brčko District.
The symbolic handover will take place after Minister Szijjártó lands at the Sarajevo International Airport.
During his stay in Sarajevo, Minister Szijjártó will hold a bilateral meeting with B&amp;H Minister of Civil Affairs Ankica Gudeljević, and a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of sports will be signed between the Hungarian Ministry of Human Resources and the B&amp;H Ministry of Civil Affairs.

A health worker in Norway has died of a brain haemorrhage after receiving the AstraZeneca anti-Covid vaccine, though no direct link to the jab has been established, health authorities said Monday.

This is the second such fatality within a few days in the Nordic country, which had suspended the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine as a precaution last Thursday. 
On Saturday, Norway's health authorities said three health care employees had been hospitalised with blood clots, bleeding and abnormally low levels of platelets in the blood.
All of them were under 50, and all had received a first dose of the vaccine made by the Anglo-Swedish pharma group.
One of the three, described as a woman "in good health", died on Sunday after a brain haemorrhage, health authorities said. She had been hospitalised on Thursday, about a week after getting the jab.
-We can neither confirm nor exclude that it has something to do with the vaccine- an official from the Norwegian Medicines Agency, Steinar Madsen, told reporters.
The condition of the two others was reported to be stable.
Another health worker in her 30s also died on Friday in Norway, 10 days after receiving the same vaccine. Other deaths have also been reported in Europe, notably in Austria and Denmark.
The European Medicines Agency is currently investigating these deaths to see if there is a link to the vaccine.
On Friday, the World Health Organization said there was "no indication to not use" the vaccine, while the manufacturer itself insisted it was safe.
According to Norwegian medical authorities, around 130,000 people had received the vaccine in Norway before it was suspended.
Among the other countries that have also suspended the vaccine for similar reasons are Denmark, Iceland, Bulgaria, Ireland, the Netherlands, France, Italy and Germany.
The medicines agency in Denmark -- the first country to suspend the use of the vaccine last Thursday after reporting a post-jab death -- on Monday revealed that the victim was a 60-year-old woman who had suffered blood clots, low platelet levels and haemorrhages after receiving the vaccine. 
The agency said it had informed people who had received the AstraZeneca vaccine in the past two weeks to look out for symptoms such as unusual bruising, bleeding, and severe headaches or stomachaches. 
About 150,000 people in Denmark have received one dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine and 583 two doses.&nbsp;
