The number of coronavirus cases at the Tokyo Olympics has risen to 79, organizers said on Wednesday, just days before the start of the major sports event.

Eight more people who arrived in Japan for the games have tested positive for COVID-19, the Tokyo Organizing Committee said.
Japan has barred spectators from attending the delayed Olympics, scheduled from July 23 to Aug. 8, with the host city Tokyo in a state of emergency at least until Aug. 22 due to surging infections.
World Health Organization chief Tedros Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday that it was not possible to eliminate the risk of virus transmission at the Tokyo Olympics.
He said anti-virus measures being implemented will be “put to the test,” stressing that the handling of confirmed infections would be critical.
-The mark of success in the coming fortnight is not zero cases- he said.
-The mark of success is making sure that any cases are identified, isolated, traced and cared for as quickly as possible and onward transmission is interrupted.-Earlier on Tuesday, Toshiro Muto, head of the Tokyo Olympics organizing committee, said officials are keeping an eye on the COVID-19 situation and “will continue discussions if there is a spike in cases.”
More than 11,000 athletes from 206 countries will compete in 33 sports at the Tokyo Olympics, which will be held at 42 competition venues.
The cost of the delayed summer games has been estimated at over $26 billion, said to be the highest amount in Olympics history.

With 783 more fatalities registered over the past day, the coronavirus death toll in Russia has now surpassed 150,000, authorities said on Wednesday.

According to the coronavirus emergency task force, 23,704 more cases were also recorded in the country, where infections have soared over recent weeks due to the spread of the highly transmissible Delta variant.
The overall tally is now over 6.03 million and active cases stand at 474,738, the team said in its daily report.
Recoveries went up by 22,854 over the past day to reach 5.4 million, it added.
The situation in Moscow, which remains Russia’s worst-hit area, has started improving due to persistent efforts by authorities.
The number of daily cases has been slashed by almost half, falling from 6,000 to 7,000 per day to between 3,000 and 4,000.
A total of 3,253 more infections were confirmed in the capital over the past 24 hours, along with 104 deaths and 8,006 recoveries.
Officials have eased some restrictions in Moscow, including the mandatory QR pass to visit eateries.
According to the mayor, more than 100,000 people are being vaccinated in the capital every day.
However, Anna Popova, the country’s chief sanitary officer, said the nationwide situation remains tense as the COVID-19 morbidity rate is climbing in 71 of Russia’s 85 regions, mainly because of the spread of the Delta variant.
She called for strict compliance with protective measures and expediting the vaccination campaign, stressing that it will prevent both the spread and further mutation of the new coronavirus strain.

A Palestinian man and his child were injured on Wednesday when their vehicle was pelted with stones by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, according to a local official.

Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian official who monitors settlement activities in the northern West Bank, told Anadolu Agency that settlers from the Shilo settlement, located on the road between the cities of Nablus and Ramallah, threw stones at a Palestinian vehicle, injuring its occupant.
He pointed out that his child was also injured and was taken to hospital for the treatment.
Settlers usually attack Palestinians and their property in the West Bank. Israeli and Palestinian estimates indicate that there are about 650,000 settlers in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, residing in 164 settlements and 116 outposts.

In the last 24 hours, 635 samples were registered with the Public Health Institute of the Federation of B&amp;H, four of which were positive for SARS-CoV-2.

There have been no deaths in the Federation of B&amp;H in the past 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the Federation of B&amp;H is 5,536.
Last week, 16,408 people were vaccinated with the first dose in the Federation of B&amp;H, while 6,470 received the second dose.

The popular TikTok video-sharing app was blocked Wednesday in Pakistan for a fourth time because of "inappropriate content", the country's telecommunication regulator said. 

The Chinese-owned site has fought a series of legal battles with religious activists and authorities in the conservative Muslim nation, and was shut down for two days earlier this month on the order of a provincial court.
Freedom of speech advocates have long criticised creeping government censorship and control of Pakistan's internet and media.
-The action has been taken due to continuous presence of inappropriate content on the platform and its failure to take such content down- the telecoms authority said in a statement.
A local TikTok representative did not immediately comment.
The app has a huge fan base in Pakistan, where many people use it to market and sell goods online.
But its critics in the deeply conservative Muslim nation say it promotes vulgarity and LGBTQ content.
In June, TikTok said it had removed more than six million videos available to Pakistan users in just three months following complaints from officials and ordinary users.
Around 15 percent of the videos removed were taken down because of "adult nudity and sexual activities", the company said.
Officials have previously asked YouTube to block content they deem objectionable, and several dating apps are prohibited.

Ten people suffered minor injuries at a beachfront disco in southern Italy early Wednesday after a patron began shooting, Italian news media reported.

Police arrested the suspected shooter, who opened fire during a brawl that broke out at about 2 am at a popular club near Taranto, the reports said. 
Some 300 college students were in the club at the time of the shooting.
The injured were hit in the legs or hurt in the ensuing melee, according to local media. None of the injuries were life-threatening.&nbsp;

More than 3.66 billion doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered worldwide, with Turkey ranking in the global top 10 for jabs given, according to Our World in Data, a tracking website affiliated with Oxford University.

China leads the global count with over 1.46 billion jabs, followed by India with 406.48 million.
The list continued with mostly Western countries, with the US having administered 337.74 million shots, Brazil 124.11 million, Germany 85.62 million, the UK 82.27 million, Japan 70.50 million.
Turkey ranked eighth on the list with over 63.54 million doses, followed by France, Italy, Indonesia, and Mexico.
The country with the most doses administered by population is the United Arab Emirates, with 165.40 doses per 100 people.

Most COVID-19 vaccines are administered in two doses, so the number of shots given is not the same as the number of individuals fully vaccinated.

Ukraine, the United States, Poland and Lithuania launched joint military exercises on Monday, amid ongoing tensions between Kiev and Moscow. 

The drills, dubbed Three Swords 2021, involve more than 1,200 military personnel and over 200 combat vehicles, and will take place at Yavoriv training ground in the western Lviv region until July 30, the military said.
-The official launch ceremony took place today- Volodymyr Skorostetsky, a Ukrainian military spokesman, told AFP.
Part of military cooperation involving Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine, the exercises are being held in Ukraine for the first time.
In 2014, Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania set up a joint military unit in the eastern Polish city of Lublin.
The unit includes 2,600 Poles, 570 Lithuanians and 340 Ukrainians.
The latest military exercises come after Ukraine and the United States held joint naval exercises, Sea Breeze, in the Black Sea. 
The two-week drills began in late June, after the British navy's HMS Defender passed near Russian-annexed Crimea in the Black Sea. 
Moscow said at the time it had fired warning shots at the destroyer to ward it off.
Ukraine has been battling pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine since 2014 in a conflict that has claimed more than 13,000 lives.
After a lull in fighting last year, the conflict escalated again at the start of 2021.
In April, Russia amassed more than 100,000 troops near the Ukrainian border and in Crimea, before announcing a troop pullback. Both Washington and Kiev say that the withdrawal has been limited.

The coronavirus situation in Moscow is improving and the number of cases is falling, the capital's mayor said on Monday.

-I must say that the morbidity rate has been going down for four weeks in a row. Over the past week, we have already seen a significant drop in new infections and hospitalizations- Sergey Sobyanin told a meeting at a Moscow hospital.
He added that 6,000 beds repurposed for the treatment of COVID-19 patients can now be used by ordinary patients, a sign of improvement in the city's epidemiological situation.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also praised the efforts of the capital's authorities, saying they proved their efficiency in countering the pandemic many times.
In a separate statement, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko urged the public to get vaccinated before autumn when seasonal flu-like illnesses and COVID-19 could worsen the situation.
Murashko confirmed that it is possible to get infected with COVID-19 even after getting vaccinated, but with mild symptoms and mostly without any need for hospitalization.

The Municipal Court in Sarajevo rendered a verdict in case no .: 65 0 P 691714 18 5 accepting Fahrudin Radončić's lawsuit against Fikret Muslimović for defamation of him in the Turkish magazine "Stav" and in the Central Dnevnik of Face TV in 2017.
Muslimović is obliged to pay damages in the amount of 2,000 KM and the costs of the proceedings in the amount of 678.44 KM, as well as to publish the pronouncement of the verdict in the magazine "Stav" and on the web portal Stav.ba.

Spokesperson for the Missing Persons Institute of B&amp;H, Emza Fazlić, told FENA that the remains of the victims were planned to arrive at the Kamičani Memorial Center in Kozarac at 7:30 PM. The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the legal deadline, filed an appeal against the decision of the Court of B&amp;H not to extend the detention measure for the suspects in the "Zijad Mutap and Others" case.
- The appeal was filed in relation to all five suspects - the Prosecutor's Office of B&amp;H announced.
The appeal refers to Zijad Mutap, Hasan Dupovac, Alisa Ramić (Mutap), Josip Barić and Muamer Ožegović, and it was stated with a proposal to change the decision and extend the custody of the suspects.

The appeal was filed due to an erroneous and incompletely established factual situation in relation to the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office of B&amp;H to extend the custody of the suspects.
The act of the Prosecutor's Office of B&amp;H was forwarded to the Court of B&amp;H, and the Trial Chamber is expected to comment soon on the arguments of Prosecutor Ćazim Hasanspahić.
By the way, this is a case in which the State Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against five people, who are charged with covering up the murder of a young man, Dženan Memić, whose family has been fighting for justice for more than five years.
