Brussels: BiH has made a significant step forward in migration management

Bosnia and Herzegovina has made a significant step forward in migration management, it was said at meetings in Brussels.

Namely, the delegation of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by the advisor to the Minister Saša Kecman, today in Brussels, held a series of meetings with European Union officials, at which they discussed the migrant situation in BiH, current EU support and continued assistance to BiH institutions in managing this process.

These topics, very important for the future management of the migrant situation in BiH, were discussed with the Head of the Department in the Directorate-General for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement (DG NEAR) Vassilis Maragos, it was announced.

Also, meetings were held with representatives of the Department for Migration, Western Balkans and Regional Strategies.

During these meetings, it was pointed out that BiH has made a significant step forward in migration management in the past year, which was recognized in the latest EC report on BiH's progress in European integration.

BiH is expected to continue working in this direction, and EU support has been announced in migration management, strengthening the capacity of BiH institutions and combating illegal migration.

An important topic of these meetings was the organization of the return of migrants to their countries of origin, strengthening the capacity of state institutions and continuing to take over migration management from international organizations.
