No prosecutor's office in Bosnia and Herzegovina has implemented the Law on Protection of Classified Information, Daily avaz has learned. This was also established by the investigation of the State Prosecutor's Office in the case against Osman Mehmedagić Osmica, director of the Intelligence and Security Agency (ISA), concerning the actions of the Commission for Security Checks.

The only judicial institution that conducted security checks was the Court of B&amp;H, while other institutions, federal and cantonal prosecutors' offices, and entity courts did not harmonize the acts with the law.
It is interesting that the Ministry of Security of BiH, more precisely Minister Selmo Cikotić (SDA), refused to act upon the request of the Prosecutor's Office to provide them with this information, to which only he can give consent as a state security body.
However, subsequent checks of persons directly involved in this procedure established that the Law is not implemented or respected at all and that only one institution does so.
On the other hand, despite all this information, the Office of the Disciplinary Prosecutor (UDT) of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of B&amp;H filed a disciplinary lawsuit against Gordana Tadić, Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of B&amp;H, on April 2nd, stating that she as the head of this institution, violated the provisions of this law.

The lawsuit alleges that Tadić, as the head of the Prosecutor's Office of B&amp;H, failed to initiate the procedure of personal security checks of the staff of the Prosecutor's Office handling classified information, as well as the Council's order that all judicial institutions in BiH implement the obligations and measures of the law.
In other words, Tadić is accused of not sending prosecutors' associates for checks, which no other prosecutor's office in the country has done.
However, Alena Kurspahić-Nadarević, the main disciplinary prosecutor, accused Tadić, although it was established that the HJPC had not yet received a certificate on the basis of which it would perform security checks.

The adoption of a rulebook on this is still in the process, on which the HJPC is working together with an international agency.
All this shows that the only goal is for Tadić, who is "guilty" that the Prosecution dared to accuse the ISA director, to start work on discovering the murderers of Dženan Memić, to start checking the causes of deaths in KCUS, to be removed from this institution under any price.
This point of the indictment against Tadić was inserted at the time when the procedure was conducted against Mehmedagić, who is still under investigation by state prosecutors and who is friends with the President of the Court of B&amp;H, Ranko Debevec.

<h2>Who is appointed to the Commission</h2>

The first instance commission of the HJPC, which will decide on the disciplinary lawsuit against Tadić, consists of Sanela Butigan-Gorušanović, vice president of the HJPC, Berina Alihodžić, member of the HJPC and deputy chief prosecutor of the KS Prosecutor's Office, as well as Mirza Đozo, district prosecutor from East Sarajevo.&nbsp;

The United Nations said Tuesday that thousands of families across war-torn Yemen have been hit by torrential rains and deadly floods since mid-April that destroyed homes and shelters. 

-Initial reports indicate some 3,730 families (22,380 people) have been affected by the rains and flooding, the majority of whom are internally displaced people- the UN humanitarian agency OCHA said. 
-Intensified rainfall over the past few days is causing damage to infrastructure, destroying homes and shelter and causing deaths and injuries.-On Monday, the government said four people were killed in flash floods in the historic city of Tarim in the central province of Hadramawt, and the UN cited reports of three deaths elsewhere in Yemen. 
AFP footage showed city streets in Tarim flooded and its famed mud-brick buildings in ruins, with cars and motorcycles buried under mud and debris.
OCHA said flooding also caused extensive damage in the provinces of Aden, Abyan, Daleh, Lahj, Hadramawt, Marib and Taez.
Dozens of people are killed every year across Yemen in flash floods.
Fierce storms have added to the woes of the conflict-ridden country.

Europe's medicines watchdog said Tuesday it has started reviewing China's Sinovac coronavirus jab, a process that could lead to eventual approval for the European market.

Made by Sinovac's Beijing-based Life Sciences unit, the vaccine by the Chinese biotech firm is the second shot developed outside the West after Russia's Sputnik V to be considered for European use by the European Medicines Agency.
The EMA's human medicines committee's "decision to start the rolling review is based on preliminary results from laboratory studies (non-clinical data) and clinical studies," the Amsterdam-based agency said.
-These studies suggest that the vaccine triggers the production of antibodies that target SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and may help protect against the disease- it said in a statement.
The Sinovac vaccine contains an inactivated form of coronavirus that cannot cause the disease. It also has a substance that helps strengthen the immune response to the vaccine.
When given the shot, the immune system identifies the inactivated virus as foreign and them makes antibodies against it, which will also recognise the active virus and defend the body against it, the EMA said.
The EMA will now continue the review until there is enough information for the company to make a formal application for it to be released to the market.
-While the EMA cannot predict the overall timelines, it should take less time than normal to evaluate an eventual application because of the work done during the rolling review- it said.
Sinovac's shot was approved by China's medicines regulator for use in February.
Currently the Sinovac vaccine is in use in at least 22 countries including several in Latin America, Africa and Asia, according to an AFP count.

German police have arrested a man they suspect of sending threatening letters inspired by a shadowy neo-Nazi cell that committed a string of racist murders in the 2000s, prosecutors said Tuesday.

The 53-year-old unemployed German national had been convicted in the past of crimes linked to the far right, the prosecutor's office for the western city of Frankfurt said.
He is "strongly suspected" of having sent, since August 2018, a series "of threatening letters with hateful, insulting and threatening content" under the pseudonym "NSU 2.0", the prosecutor said.
The name refers to the National Socialist Underground, a neo-Nazi extremist group uncovered in 2011 that murdered 10 people and planted three bombs.
The letters were mainly addressed to public officials, notably members of the federal parliament and that of the Hesse region.
Investigators had initially suspected that the man was linked to the police themselves, as information on the people threatened had been collected from police stations.
But prosecutors said the person detained was not a police officer. The suspect was taken into custody at his Berlin apartment during a search.
The assassination in June 2019 of pro-migration politician Walter Luebcke shocked the country and highlighted the growing threat of right-wing extremism.
Previously, the NSU was able to carry out the murders of eight Turkish immigrants, a Greek and a German policewoman as investigators focused their probe in error on members of Germany's immigrant communities.

Papua New Guinea's prime minister launched a nationwide coronavirus vaccine roll-out Tuesday, hoping to quell a runaway outbreak and counter widespread public hesitancy about jabs.

James Marape said a batch of 100,000 vaccines had arrived in Papua New Guinea and would be distributed countrywide, as he urged sceptical health workers and the general public to get vaccinated. 
-We want to reduce and prevent deaths of our people- he said, launching the "Sleeves Up" campaign. 
After weathering the initial stages of the pandemic, the country has recorded most of its 11,262 Covid-19 cases and 115 known deaths since February 2021.
Only 93,000 tests have been carried out among a population of nine million, so the real number of infections is feared to be much higher.
-If you have no need to go to a public place outside of your home or workplace, stay put wherever you are- Marape said.
The outbreak has pushed the nation's health system to the limit, with hospitals turning away patients due to a lack of medical staff and a temporary field hospital set up in a sports stadium.
Overwhelmed medics have tested positive in their hundreds, but many have been refusing vaccines.
Only half of an emergency Australian delivery of more than 8,000 vaccine doses for frontline staff in Port Moresby have reportedly been used. 
Vaccine misinformation is widespread and there is concern about the safety of the AstraZeneca product after a small number of widely reported health scares overseas.

The first US military helicopters, that will take part in the "Quick Response 21" bilateral exercise together with the Armed Forces of B&amp;H, landed yesterday at the Dubrave airport near Tuzla.
 
The arrival of the remaining US helicopters is planned in the coming days, and before the start of the exercise, an increased number of helicopter flights is expected in order to get acquainted with the terrain configuration in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the AFB&amp;H and the US Embassy announced via social networks.
These are the first two UH-60 helicopters from the Combat Aviation Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division of the US Armed Forces, stationed in Poznan, Poland. They were welcomed by members of the 5th Infantry Brigade of the AF B&amp;H and the staff of the Tuzla International Airport.

Denmark said Monday it will bar the Johnson &amp; Johnson vaccine from its Covid inoculation drive over worries about blood clots, following a similar move against the AstraZeneca jab.

The Danish Health Authority noted that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) "has concluded that there is a possible link between rare but severe cases of blood clots" and the Johnson &amp; Johnson drug.
Both the EMA and the World Health Organization have however recommmended the use of the Johnson &amp; Johnson vaccine on the basis that the benefits outweigh the risks.
But Danish health officials said the current favourable epidemiological situation in the Scandinavian country meant it could do without the J&amp;J jab, and would rely only on the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines.
-The Danish Health Authority has concluded that the benefits of using the Covid-19 vaccine from Johnson &amp; Johnson do not outweigh the risk of causing the possible adverse effect... in those who receive the vaccine- the authority said in a statement.
-Therefore, the Danish Health Authority will continue the Danish mass vaccination programme against Covid-19 without the Covid-19 vaccine from Johnson &amp; Johnson- it added.
The health authority noted Denmark's epidemic was currently "under control," and that "the vaccination rollout is progressing satisfactorily with other available vaccines."
But it acknowledged that the decision would delay the vaccination campaign.
In mid-April, Denmark announced it was cutting the AstraZeneca vaccine from its vaccination campaign after putting it on hold a month earlier, citing similar concerns, becoming the first country in Europe to completely cut the vaccine.
Denmark has said it could re-evaluate the use of both vaccines should the situation change.
-New knowledge may emerge, or the situation in Denmark may change, for example, in terms of infection pressure, disease burden, epidemic control, or other vaccines' availability- the health authority said.
Of Denmark's 5.8 million inhabitants, 11.5 percent are fully vaccinated and 23.4 percent have received a first dose of the vaccine.
Currently there are four vaccines approved for use in the EU: Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson &amp; Johnson -- the latter two reserved for older people in most European countries.

If approved, the green light would apply to all 27 European Union member states.
Pfizer and BioNTech added they also planned to seek clearance from "other regulatory authorities worldwide".
No coronavirus vaccines are currently authorised for use on children.
While children and teenagers are less likely to develop severe Covid, they make up a large part of the population and inoculating them -- to prevent them infecting others -- is considered key to ending the pandemic.
Getting older children vaccinated before the next school year begins would also ease the strain on parents juggling the demands of homeschooling and work.
-It's very important to enable children (to make) a return to their normal school lives and allow them to meet with family and friends- Ugur Sahin, co-founder and CEO Germany's BioNTech told German weekly Der Spiegel last week.
BioNTech and Pfizer are also racing to get their jab approved for younger kids, from six months upwards.

After months of lockdown, Greece is loosening its coronavirus measures starting Monday with the reopening of its food sector.

Restaurants, coffee shops, and bars are opening their doors to the public for the first time since November’s lockdown.
Customers will only be allowed to be served in the open and with only six people per table, while music will not be allowed in order for customers not to come too close to hear each other.
Night curfew is also shortened to start from 11 PM local time instead of 10 p.m. which has been in place.
Citizens that wish to visit any food sector outlet will need to send a text message.
Also, food sector employees will be obliged to be self-tested for COVID-19 while a mask will still be obligatory.
Greece has been gradually lifting its pandemic measures since April when the retails sector reopened with the "click away" and "click in shop" methods that were previously used.
The country has been speeding up its vaccination program aiming to administer up to 2.5 million jabs in May and up to 4 million in June.
In April, the country has administered roughly 1.4 million jabs.
Official data have shown a decrease in Greece’s coronavirus cases with the latest count on Saturday recording 1,391 new cases and 72 more deaths, but a slight rise was registered in intubations with 811 on ventilators on Saturday rising from 802 on Friday.
The overall number of confirmed cases in the country now stands at 346,422 according to health authorities while the total number of deaths is at 10,453.

In al-Thawra hospital in the disputed Yemeni city of Taiz, a nurse with no face mask or protective gear inoculates the few people who have shown interest in the COVID-19 vaccine.

People living in Houthi-controlled neighbourhoods have to travel around 50 km (30 miles) to avoid front lines and reach the main government-controlled hospital.
-I got infected by coronavirus, I took natural herbs and spices that our ancestors used. I was well again- said Ali Abdou, a 55-year-old Taiz resident.
-We work very hard with our bodies and it gives us strong immunity, one of us dies only when his time has come. Those rare diseases only affect the rich and we are not among them- Abdou said.
Mohammed Muthana, another resident, said he will wait until officials and doctors take the vaccine before he can trust it.
In al-Thawra hospital, doctor Sarah Damaj has been trying to convince Yemenis the vaccine is safe and does not break the fast.
-People are afraid because there is a lot of misinformation out there, especially on social media- she said.

War and doubts slow COVID-19 vaccination in disputed Yemen city

Two Cuban COVID-19 vaccines are in solid progress to be available in summer, Dr. Rolando Perez Rodriguez, director of Science and Innovation at the Cuban Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Group (BioCubaFarma), told Anadolu Agency in an exclusive interview.&nbsp;Boasting one of the highest ratios in the world in terms of doctor density, 8.2 per 1,000 people according to the World Bank, Cuba has stood out as one of the most capable countries in the world to fight the coronavirus pandemic with only 664 reported deaths so far and slightly over 108,000 infections.
The US state of Florida alone, which is a stone’s throw from the Caribbean nation, has registered over 35,000 deaths, according to Maryland's Johns Hopkins University. Overall US infections have surpassed 32.4 million and fatalities have rapidly climbed to over 577,000.
Dr. Rodriguez said Cuba has decided to develop its own vaccine candidates to immunize all of its population, based on the capacities of the national biotech industry. He shared that the "immunization program will cover, stepwise, risk and vulnerable groups, adults, and finally pediatric population."
Two vaccine candidates – Soberana 02 and Abdala – are now in Phase III clinical trials, Rodriguez said, with ''efficacy data expected by June."
-However, positive safety and immunogenicity data from these vaccine candidates have been obtained in previous clinical trials- he added.
He said Cuba plans to complete vaccination of all its people, against all odds, before the end of this year, and drew attention to "a shortage worldwide for available supplies of raw materials and primary packaging material for the pharmaceutical industry."
-This situation is even worse in Cuba due to the economic and financial embargo imposed by USA against our country for several decades, which has been reinforced during the last years, even during the situation of sanitary emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic-' he complained.
In February 1962, US President John F. Kennedy proclaimed an embargo on trade between the United States and Cuba, "in response to certain actions taken by the Cuban Government," and directed the departments of commerce and the treasury to implement the embargo, which controversially remains in place to date.

Once emergency use authorization of the COVID-19 vaccines is granted, Cuba will quickly immunize all of its population, Rodriguez concluded.
