The vote count after the elections in Mostar is coming to an end, and talks on the new government, the mayor and the future of the city on the Neretva are just beginning.
Everyone wants the position of mayor. HDZ, with individually the largest number of won council seats, sees the holder of the list, Mario Kordić, in that position. The "Coalition for Mostar", within which the SDA will probably have eight council seats, is pushing Dr. Zlatko Guzin to become the head the city.

The „Civic bloc“, which consists of the SDP and Naša stranka, would like to place the popular Irma Baralija among the people of Mostar in the mayor's chair.
Three legitimate wishes, 18 hands are required for the majority, and the place is only one. Mathematically, all options are open. The "Coalition for Mostar", with 12 councilors, can appoint a mayor in alliance with "B&amp;H bloc '' and its six councilors, without HDZ.
The HDZ, with its 13 councilors, can most easily elect a mayor from the SDA's eight councilors, which would be a continuation of the decades-old coalition between the two parties. The same can be done with six councilors of the SDP and Naša stranka, but this is already a bit more difficult and unlikely option.

Denis Zvizdić, vice president of the SDA, the party in charge of this year's elections in Mostar, calls for a program gathering of pro-Bosnian parties from the "Coalition for Mostar" and "B&amp;H block '', which can ensure the choice of Dr. Guzina or Irma Baralija for mayor, but it does not solve the problem of further functioning of the government in Mostar, because without HDZ and its 13 councilors, it is simply impossible. 
Our party and the SDP view such and similar initiatives from the SDA with considerable suspicion. It is believed that Zvizdić's call is not sincere and that it is just a forced half-step that the SDA is making, counting on the fact that "B&amp;H bloc'' to reject the offer, which consequently gives an alibi for SDA negotiations and post-election cooperation with HDZ.

This is supported by information about the advanced talks between the leaders of HDZ and SDA, Dragan Čović and Bakir Izetbegović, which are conducted far from the eyes of the public, but also of their coalition partners. Allegedly, the mayor's office for HDZ's Mario Kordić is on the table in exchange for removing the barricades that Čović set up for the formation of the new Government of the Federation of B&amp;H.

<h2>Public conflicts and secret agreements</h2>

Given Mostar's political, economic, and demographic importance to the HDZ and Dragan Čović - whom he unjustifiably calls the "capital city of Croats in B&amp;H" at every opportunity - rumors of a willingness to trade Kordić to head Mostar for the new FB&amp;H government do not appear far from the truth.
Experience so far tells us that the SDA and HDZ always agree in the end, regardless of public conflicts and difficult words.
Especially since the "Coalition for Mostar" (in which the SDA has the most councilors) has achieved a result by which Izetbegović can now wave his peace of mind in front of those within the party who are naturalizing the election debacle in Sarajevo.
If the door is opened for the rapid formation of the Federal Government, in which the SDA currently has only three ministers and prime ministers, the mayoral post in Mostar, from Izetbegović's point of view, will be the lowest price he and the SDA have to pay.

<h2>Is a two-thirds majority possible without the HDZ?</h2>

A much more difficult political operation will be securing a two-thirds majority (24 councilors out of 35), which makes all important decisions in the Mostar City Council, from the budget onwards. The key role in this crossword puzzle will be played by the Alliance for a Better Future, which is part of the "Coalition for Mostar", with three councilors, and the Croatian Republican Party, with three councilors.
With SBB's three councilors, HDZ with 13 and SDA with eight have a two-thirds majority. DF and its leader Željko Komšić have already announced that cooperation with HDZ in the City Council is out of the question, where DF will most likely have one councilor.
In the second variant, in which there would be no SDA and DF, HDZ with 13, ''B&amp;H bloc'' with six and SBB with three councilors, do not have a two-thirds majority, so they need the help of three HRS councilors.
The least likely, more precisely impossible mission is to make the two-thirds majority needed for the functioning of the government in Mostar without the HDZ. All other parties and coalitions, including one SNSD and SDS councilor who does not have a decisive force in any combination, have a total of 22 councilors.

At a New Year's press conference at which he spoke about the election results achieved by the SDA in the local elections held on November 15th, Izetbegović announced a decisive personnel renewal of municipal committees in which the SDA achieved poor election results. There will probably be changes in Ilidža, in Novo Sarajevo and the Center, and then, presumably, new elections will happen in the Cantonal Board of the SDA Sarajevo, but that will be decided by the Presidency of the SDA. I will give these recommendations - said Izetbegović.
In this way, Izetbegović indirectly announced the possible dismissal of Fikret Prevljak as the head of the cantonal committee of this party.
This position of Izetbegović was also supported by Abdulah Skaka, the current mayor of Sarajevo in front of this party.

I am convinced that the SDA, as the strongest political party, as we have shown before, has enough capacity and breadth to produce personnel who will achieve better election results in Sarajevo. I support what President Izetbegović said that trust should be given to young and energetic people in the interest of citizens and the state. It should be reminded that the affair with the election of Prevljak as the new head of the SDA cantonal committee caused an avalanche of disintegration and internal conflicts in the SDA.
Although Prevljak was officially elected in the race for the post with more votes than his opponent Semir Efendić, a video leaked to the public showing the then SDA vice president Asim Sarajlić negotiating the loyalty of the voice of an unknown envoy, who should have been secured vote for Fikret Prevljak instead for Efendić. 
However, in addition to this topic, the recording also shows Sarajlić presenting numerous details from the recent and distant past when it comes to corruption in staffing, lobbying, employment, but also plans for the future.
Although Efendić never acknowledged the result of the internal party elections, Prevljak, the "poltron of the Izetbegović family", as he describes himself, remained at the head of the cantonal committee. But after the scandal, the party took a detour.
Apart from Sarajlić's resignation from all party functions, Aljoša Čampara was expelled from the party, who openly stood by the mayor of Novi Grad and called for responsibility. Semir Efendić himself was at the party's exit door for a long time. Apart from Efendić, another potential candidate for leaving the SDA ship is one of the most prominent members of its leadership, Denis Zvizdić, who openly criticizes Izetbegović's moves and would undoubtedly withdraw several other prominent party leaders by leaving the party.
However, the showdown with the intra-party opposition did not help Izetbegović much. The Sarajevo SDA, led by Prevljak, suffered a flood in the capital, losing mayoral posts in key Sarajevo municipalities, and will be without a mayor after a long time.

Whether he is faced with intra-party pressure and the election embarrassment of his favorite cadres, Izetbegović finally decided to withdraw from the pressures, keep the peace in the party and let his cadres down the water, remains to be seen.

- I think that fundamental changes will have to be made that would enable everything that the SDA and HDZ insisted on, and even the DF. I will not do anything without an agreement with Mr. Komšić, this is the agreement from the beginning of the coalition. That is acceptable for him as well - said Izetbegović.

More than 20 people were unaccounted for, ten injured and some 500 evacuated on Wednesday after a nightime landslide in a small Norwegian town north of Oslo, police and local media said.

It is a group that I called out in the newspapers and I filed a criminal complaint against them for the attempted assassination of me, in which my family was killed. As revenge, this montage is theirs, as well as dozens of others, with the intention of me quarreling with my closest surroundings - says Halilović.

He is of the opinion that someone sent all this to Mektić.

- Let Mektić imagine whether he would keep someone next to him when he knows he is a spy and works for the other side. You really have to be the last fool to do so, say or state something like that. This is just one of a hundred montages - Halilović points out.
It should be noted that General Halilović was a victim of the Bosniak intelligence mafia for decades. It was them who had indicted him in The Hague, where he was acquitted of all charges.
In addition, only fifteen years after the end of the war, Halilović and his son Semir, today a politically active publicist, discovered the horrible montages that Izetbegović's intelligence agents knowingly placed so that Halilović would think that Radončić had testified and worked against him.
Semir Halilović's research work and documentation from The Hague documented all the lies of that intelligence game, which included handwritten (!?) alleged telephone surveillance notes, and a series of false documents.
All these monstrous details will soon be published in a book about Fikret Muslimović. The team from "Avaz" has already finished it, but it is waiting for the end of the pandemic for it to be published.
In the end, it should be reminded that Dragan Mektić, without any reason, after a politically very interesting and analytical interview that Radončić gave for N1 Television and where he did not mention him at all, called him a criminal several times.
Radončić then asked Mektić several times to explain whether he worked as an ISA informant, why, like Dodik, he did not recognize the genocide in Srebrenica, why he acted innocent in front of Bosniaks, and was a member of the army of Ratko Mladić and SDS Radovan Karadžić, about whom he never said a negative sentence. But he is, about the late Alija Izetbegović, as an alleged war criminal. In addition, Mektić definitely does not want to answer why, while planting drugs on others, he is silent about questions about the drug past of the wife of the first intelligence officer in B&amp;H or the turbulent life of "little Jasmina", etc ...

This is just proof of how transparently the SDA and its propaganda-intelligence machinery are fabricating the confrontations of former ministers in order to hide the scandals in this party.

The group were arrested by the Chinese coastguard on August 23 en route to the self-ruled island, which has quietly opened its doors to Hongkongers seeking sanctuary.
The court in the southern city of Shenzhen sentenced Tang Kai-yin to three years in jail and Quinn Moon to two years for organising an illegal border crossing.
The eight others were sentenced to seven months behind bars for illegally crossing the border. The 10 were also fined up to 20,000 yuan (US$3,060) in addition to their jail terms.
The sentencing follows the imposition of a sweeping new security law in Hong Kong this year that has given the government broad powers to prosecute political dissidents.
A number of activists have fled the city for overseas and political organisations have shuttered their doors as Beijing seeks to keep a lid on unrest that rocked the financial hub for months last year.
A total of 12 people were caught on the boat and have been held in custody for more than four months on the mainland.
The group were facing prosecution in Hong Kong related to last year's protests before attempting their escape.
They will likely face further charges in the city after serving their mainland sentences.
Two minors from the so-called "Hong Kong 12", aged 17 and 18, were returned to the city on Wednesday after they admitted wrongdoing, Chinese officials said. The court said it would not pursue its case against them.
In Hong Kong, the 18-year-old faces charges of conspiracy to commit arson, while the 17-year-old faces charges of attempted arson and possession of offensive weapons.

Barrister Chow Hang-tung, from the "Save 12" concern group, condemned the mainland legal process as "utterly unjust" as their families and lawyers had been kept in the dark.
-According to the state media's report, the defendants even praised the mainland's justice system, which is very absurd- Chow said.
-We can't imagine what kind of treatment they have got in the detention centre.-
The 10 adults first appeared before the Shenzhen court on Monday, but the trial -- like many in China's opaque legal system -- was not open to foreign reporters or diplomats.
Families of the accused were only notified three days before the hearing and were unable to attend due to the short notice and Covid-19 restrictions.
Their lawyers were barred from meeting the detainees, with authorities instead appointing state-approved legal representation.
The lawyers said the sentences were too heavy and the allegation of organising a border crossing was not substantiated.
"I think no matter he was sentenced to one day or seven months, every single day is unjust," said the father of jailed activist Cheng Tsz-ho.

According to mainland Chinese media, Tang bought the boat in August and learnt basic driving skills for the escape, while Quinn Moon was responsible for communicating with the rest of the group, urging them to tell the coastguard they were going fishing if caught.
They all pleaded guilty to the crime and signed confession papers in the presence of lawyers, said the Southern Daily, a mouthpiece of the Guangdong provincial Communist Party committee.
The United States on Monday called for the immediate release of the group, saying they were "fleeing tyranny". 
-Communist China will stop at nothing to prevent its people from seeking freedom elsewhere- a US embassy spokesperson told AFP. 
Amnesty International said in a statement that the group were at risk of torture serving sentences in mainland Chinese jails.
-These sentences meted out after an unfair trial lay bare the dangers faced by anybody who finds themselves tried under the Chinese criminal system- said Amnesty's Asia-Pacific regional director Yamini Mishra.
-The Chinese authorities have shown the world once again that political activists will not receive a fair trial.-
China's foreign ministry said the case was handled strictly according to the law.
-The law must be abided by and those who violate the law will be held accountable- said ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin.
The new security law that now blankets Hong Kong gives authorities sweeping powers of prosecution for acts deemed terrorism, secession, subversion or collusion with foreign entities. 
The city had enjoyed unique freedoms since its handover from former colonial power Britain in 1997, with a deal promising a "one country, two systems" arrangement for 50 years. 
Beijing says the new security law was needed to restore peace and stability but critics have condemned it as a fatal attack on Hong Kong's freedoms.

The number of coronavirus cases in the Chinese city where the pathogen was first detected may have been 10 times higher than official figures suggest, according to a study by health authorities in Wuhan.
About 4.4 percent of the city's 11 million residents had developed antibodies against the virus causing Covid-19 by April, the report by the Chinese Centre for Disease Control (CDC) said.
That correlates to around 480,000 infections in Wuhan by April, nearly 10 times the official tally to date of 50,000 cases in the city.
China has faced a barrage of criticism at home and abroad over its initial handling of the virus, including attempts to silence whistle-blowers and not reporting any cases for days in early January amid high-level political consultations. 
On Monday, citizen journalist Zhang Zhan was jailed for four years for reporting on conditions inside Wuhan during the height of the outbreak.
The discrepancy revealed by the CDC's data may "point to potential underreporting due to the chaos in late January and early February, when a large number of people were not tested or were not tested accurately for Covid-19," Huang Yanzhong, a senior fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), told AFP.
Qin Ying, a serological expert from the CDC told AFP on Wednesday that disparities in data were not unique to China.
-Several countries have already published similar serological surveys and... in most instances the number of people with antibodies against the coronavirus was several times higher than the confirmed case count- Qin said. 
-So this kind of disparity is a widespread phenomenon.-
The CDC added that only 0.44 percent of the population in central Hubei province outside of Wuhan exhibited antibodies for the virus, suggesting that the 77-day lockdown on the city may have helped prevent the spread of the disease.
The findings of the survey of more than 34,000 people across the country conducted in April was only released late Monday.
China does not include asymptomatic cases in its official tally, which could also explain the discrepancy between the total confirmed cases and the actual number infected.
The country's total number of cases stands at 87,027 with 4,634 deaths, according to data from the National Health Commission on Wednesday. 
China has largely curbed the virus at home, and was the only major economy to report positive economic growth this year as restrictions on businesses and internal travel were lifted. 
Even in Wuhan the "rate is not as high as that in New York City (23 percent by September), which may suggest the (Chinese) government containment efforts were speedy and effective", Huang said. 
Officials have also rushed to test tens of millions of people to squash local mini-outbreaks.

Britain on Wednesday became the first country in the world to approve the coronavirus vaccine developed by drug firm AstraZeneca and Oxford University, with a mass rollout planned from January 4.
The vaccine can be stored, transported and handled at normal refrigerated conditions, and is therefore cheaper and easier to administer than the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna jabs that require freezing.
The government said in a statement that it had "today accepted the recommendation from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to authorise Oxford University/AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine for use."
Britain will become the first nation to roll out the jab on January 4, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said, amid mounting concerns that another dangerous spike in infections could overwhelm the NHS.

The approval followed "rigorous clinical trials and a thorough analysis of the data by experts at the MHRA, which has concluded that the vaccine has met its strict standards of safety, quality and effectiveness," said a Department of Health and Social Care spokesman.
The government has ordered 100 million doses, with 40 million doses scheduled to be available by the end of March.
The MHRA approved the vaccine after receiving an application on December 23.
Britain approved a shot produced by Pfizer-BioNTech on December 2, and has already vaccinated around 800,000 people with the first dose, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said last week.

On Sunday, AstraZeneca's Chief Executive Pascal Soriot said the vaccine provides "100 percent protection" against severe Covid disease requiring hospitalisation.
He predicted trials would show his firm had achieved a vaccine efficacy equal to Pfizer-BioNTech at 95 percent and Moderna at 94.5 percent.
Earlier trials had shown varying outcomes in the AstraZeneca shot's efficacy.
Initial large-scale trials in which volunteers in the UK and Brazil were given two full doses showed 62 percent effectiveness.
For volunteers who received a half-dose first and then a full dose one month later, however, the vaccine was found to have 90 percent efficacy.
The values were averaged to give the 70 percent figure intially reported by the developers.
Despite criticism of the discrepancies in the results and a perceived lack of transparency by AstraZeneca, great hopes have been placed on the shot, originally based on a weakened version of a chimpanzee virus, because of its low cost.
AstraZeneca's vaccine also enjoys a logistical advantage over the Pfizer-BioNTech alternative, as it can be stored, transported and handled at normal refrigerated conditions of between two and eight degrees Celsius (36-46 Fahrenheit) for at least six months.
That is a far cry from the minus 70C needed for Pfizer/BioNTech's vaccine and could allow use of the existing refrigerated supply chain to cut costs.
Nearly 200 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be made before the end of the year, the UK drug manufacturer has said, and more than 700 million globally by the end of March next year.

New tremors shook Croatia early Wednesday as the Adriatic country was still picking up the pieces of a deadly earthquake that claimed at least seven lives and reduced buildings to rubble a day before.
The new 4.8 and 4.7 magnitude quakes struck after 0515GMT in the same zone south of Zagreb that was badly damaged on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
Rescue teams spent the night scouring ruins in the hard-hit area around Petrinja, a town 50 kilometres (30 miles) from the capital, where numerous rooftops collapsed under the force of Tuesday's 6.4-magnitude quake.
But no new victims were found overnight by the country's mountain rescue service, which searched more than 80 villages in the quake-hit zone, the organisation's chief Josip Granic told reporters.
Among the dead found Tuesday was a young girl struck by falling debris on a street in Petrinja, a man who tried to resuscitate her told local media.
Five men were also killed in a nearby village, local officials said, while another man was buried beneath debris in a church in the village of Zazina, the priest told state news agency HINA. 
At least 20 people were injured, Croatian police said.
Many in Petrinja spent a sleepless night in fear of aftershocks, with some opting to pass the night in cars or shelter in a nearby military barracks. 
Parts of Petrinja, whose downtown was badly damaged, and the nearby town of Sisak were still without electricity Wednesday morning.
The European Union's crisis management chief, Janez Lenarcic, was due to visit Petrinja later in the day as the bloc prepared to send aid.
