The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is launching a new five-year Developing Sustainable Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina project that will support the recovery of the B&amp;H tourism sector by encouraging cooperation between all levels of government, the economy and local communities from the negative impact of the pandemic.
U.S. Ambassador to B&amp;H Eric Nelson said at a webinar today that the U.S. Government will help local actors present offers, enable business, attract investment, and contribute to strengthening tourism in the postcovid world through the USAID project.
He stated that while traveling through B&amp;H, he saw waterfalls, bridges, places like Počitelj, Trebinje, Bjelašnica, Jahorina and enjoyed excellent food.
-This is the beginning of what B&amp;H has to offer to tourists. We have to share with the world what this country has to offer- Nelson said.
USAID Mission Director in B&amp;H Nancy Eslick said the pandemic had devastating consequences around the world, including in B&amp;H, and that USAID believes that investment in tourism would provide more jobs and strengthen the economy.
The goal of the five-year, worth 20 million USD project is to support far-reaching economic development driven by tourism, and to promote social harmony through the natural activation of B&amp;H's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
In his address, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of B&amp;H, Staša Košarac, expressed his satisfaction with the launch of the project. He stressed that B&amp;H has the potential for tourism development, given that a significant growth rate of tourist arrivals was recorded in the period before the pandemic.
-Before the pandemic, one of the highest growth rates was recorded in the countries of the Western Balkans, and tourists came from the region, but also from China, Korea, the USA, and all European countries. With its diverse tourist offer, B&amp;H meets the requirements of different profiles of tourists. When we look at the statistics, tourism can be a strong industry in B&amp;H- added Košarac.
Minister of Environment and Tourism of the Federation of B&amp;H, Edita Djapo, and the Minister of Trade and Tourism of the Republic of Srpska, Suzana Gašić, emphasized the importance of the natural beauties of B&amp;H and the offer that B&amp;H has in that sense.
Djapo pointed out that the FB&amp;H Ministry of Environment and Tourism has prepared three new laws related to tourism and catering sector, applying the best world practices. Also, continuous work is being done on the harmonization of legislation and directives related to the environment, and significant support has been provided through grants and transfers to the private sector. Particularly significant funds were allocated during the pandemic in order to retain jobs and business entities in this sector.
-Our goal is to get closer to world practices and to enable the local community to generate income while preserving nature and the environment. Also, activities have been initiated for the development of a strategy for the development of tourism in the FB&amp;H- said Đapo, adding that the Ministry actively participates in and supports international projects.
B&amp;H, i.e. the Federation of B&amp;H, in the near future, as she added, needs strategic documents, investments in human resources and infrastructure, increasing care for nature and the environment and the use of natural resources for the development of sustainable tourism, attracting tourists and investors.

Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Sunday he had tested positive for COVID-19 amid the country’s deadliest week yet in the coronavirus pandemic, which has pushed the health system of the Mexican capital to its limits.&nbsp;The 67-year-old president, who was a heavy smoker until suffering a major heart attack in 2013, said in a tweet that his symptoms were light and he was receiving treatment.
-As always, I am optimistic- said Lopez Obrador, who has resisted wearing a face mask in public since the virus reached Mexico over 10 months ago.
The president, who is back in Mexico City after a three-day visit to parts of northern and central Mexico, said he would continue working, and still planned to take part in a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday morning.
But the veteran leftist will step back from his regular public schedule, which has dominated the country’s political life since he first took office in December 2018.
Critics have railed incessantly against his management of the health crisis, but despite a mounting toll of nearly 150,000 dead, his popularity has risen during the pandemic, according a daily tracking poll by polling firm Consulta Mitofsky.
The president has maintained a busy agenda, meeting his security cabinet at 6 a.m. every morning then holding daily news conferences of two hours or more from 7 a.m. At the weekends, he often tours the country, just as he did when in opposition.
Several close aides have contracted the virus in the past few months, but he has always insisted that he is in good health and has taken care of himself since the 2013 heart attack, after which he quit smoking.
-Fortunately, the president is stable at the moment, the symptoms are mild- Jose Luis Alomia, a senior Mexican health official told a daily news conference shortly after Lopez Obrador announced he had the virus.
Specialists were attending the president, Alomia said.
The health ministry said officials were reviewing who the president had been in contact with in the past few days and that most of them would self-isolate. Economy Minister Tatiana Clouthier was isolating, a spokeswoman said.
Lopez Obrador made an uncertain start to the pandemic, which has led to the fourth-highest death toll worldwide in Mexico. Initially the president urged people to hug each other and to keep going out. Later, he told them to stay at home.

His two predecessors as president, Enrique Pena Nieto and Felipe Calderon, both of whom Lopez Obrador has pilloried as part of a corrupt political system, quickly wished him well.

Bosnia and Herzegovina does not have such capacity for its own promotion, but still the best advertisement we have are the experiences of those who were in B&amp;H and who gladly return to it every time urging their friends and acquaintances to join them, said Ambassador of B&amp;H in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Muhamed Jusić in an interview with FENA. 
According to him, a serious obstacle to the arrival of a larger number of tourists is the demanding visa regime, because every potential tourist must come to the embassy for an interview.
-Saudi Arabia is a huge country and it is too complicated for many families. That is why more and more of them decide to travel to B&amp;H with the visas of the Schengen countries, which they can get easier and faster than the B&amp;H visa- said Ambassador Jusić.
He expressed hope that "the initiative of the association of workers in the tourism and hotel sector from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, which demanded that Saudi Arabia, as has already been done for all other Gulf countries, abolish visas, or at least abolish suspends the visa regime during the tourist season". 
-This would bring us a quick financial injection into the worst affected sectors of the economy from March, when the permission of the citizens of Saudi Arabia to travel abroad after several months of ban due to the Covid-19 pandemic is expected. I hope that there will be a hearing from the authorities for such a decision, that it will not be politicized and that we will not miss this opportunity- Ambassador Jusić emphasized.
It should be noted that Saudi Arabia is a member of the G20 and one of the world's largest economies, and that the largest companies and countries are vying for its market.
-They are among the most potent investors in the world and many countries, especially Europe and North America, are making serious efforts to attract investors. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is very difficult for our companies to compete with these "world players", so it is very important that our performance is serious and based on realistic possibilities. What Bosnia certainly has is a "soft power" that rests on the incredible friendship of citizens, business people and even people in power, and especially King Salman, who through his entire social and political engagement was especially attached to B&amp;H. But we cannot base everything on the sympathies that these people have towards us, especially not when we talk about exports, investments and business relations,” said Jusić, commenting on the possibilities of cooperation between B&amp;H and Saudi Arabia.
Speaking about the current situation in Saudi Arabia and its response to the coronavirus pandemic, Ambassador Jusić points out that "Saudi Arabia has been declared the sixth country in the world, and the first among the Gulf countries in its response to the Covid-19 pandemic."
-A little over a month ago, the competent authorities in the Kingdom declared that they have a pandemic under control on their territory. Now the state is working rapidly to repair the consequences that the pandemic has left on the economy. We are working on reducing the budget deficit, encouraging citizens to invest in the domestic and world economy and the gradual return of the visits to Mecca and Medina. Here, vaccination is largely underway and the whole process takes place using digital technologies. Jusić: Abolishing visas for citizens of Saudi Arabia would help B&H economy

Hong Kong lifted its first neighbourhood coronavirus lockdown on Monday morning after testing some 7,000 people and finding just a handful of cases as debate swirled over the efficacy of the move.
Over the weekend police moved in to seal off a poor and densely populated neighbourhood of about 150 apartment blocks where coronavirus clusters had sprung up in recent weeks.
Officials went door to door conducting mandatory tests and found 0.17 percent of those tested had the virus.
Some community and business leaders were critical of how the lockdown was carried out. 
But officials defended the move as proportionate and said they would not rule out similar neighbourhood lockdowns.
-We do not consider this operation a waste of manpower and money- health minister Sophia Chan told reporters on Sunday.
Hong Kong was one of the first places to be struck by the coronavirus after it spilled out of central China.
It has recorded just over 10,000 infections with some 170 deaths by imposing effective but economically punishing social distancing measures for much of the last year.
In recent weeks stubborn clusters have emerged in low-income neighbourhoods notorious for some of the world's most cramped housing.
David Hui, an infectious disease expert advising the government, defended localised lockdowns. But he urged authorities to move more swiftly to stop members of the public leaving ahead of any new order.
-The most worrying part is whether the virus might spread outside as some residents left when they heard the lockdown was coming- Hui told reporters.
News of the weekend's lockdown leaked to local media on Friday morning and residents were seen leaving the area before police arrived late that evening. 
Benjamin Cowling, another epidemiologist at the University of Hong Kong, said blocking off certain neighbourhoods would have a limited effect because the virus remains across the city. 
-I'm not sure that locking down other small parts of the city would make a lot of difference in getting on top of the case numbers right now- he told RTHK on Monday. 
The neighbourhood locked down over the weekend has a large South Asian population -- a community that often faces discrimination and poverty -- and there was criticism over how the operation was handled, including pork products in food parcels for Muslim families. 
Last week a senior health official sparked anger when he suggested ethnic minority residents might be spreading the virus more readily because "they like to share food, smoke, drink alcohol and chat together".
Critics countered that poverty and a lack of affordable housing forcing people to live in cramped conditions were to blame -- not race or culture.
Food delivery companies have also reported some users have begun requesting no South Asian make deliveries sparking anger from the city's equality watchdog.&nbsp;

Ambassadors of Germany and France Margret Uebber and Christine Toudic visited the War Childhood Museum in Sarajevo today on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the signing of the Elysee Treaty of Friendship between the two countries.

The agreement, signed on January 22, 1963, at the Elysee Palace in Paris, by the then President of France Charles de Gaulle and German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer is considered the cornerstone for the creation of the European Energy Community and then the European Union.

German Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Margret Uebber pointed out that the agreement served as a basis for reconciliation between the two nations that had been at war for centuries.

-The two heads of state then showed exceptional courage and their policy paved the way for reconciliation and created the basis for France and Germany to become the core of the European Union- said Ambassador Uebber.

French Ambassador Christine Toudic pointed out that they chose the War Childhood Museum for today's event because they believe that it is extremely important to think about children who have experienced the war or live in it.

After World War II, Ambassador Toudic said, France and Germany set up a Youth Office that allowed more than eight million young people to meet colleagues from another country about whom they often knew nothing.

FB&H justice and inspection officials meet with EU4Justice project leader

Aljoša Čampara, the Minister of Internal Affairs of FB&amp;H, said this morning in the continuation of the trial of Osman Mehmedagić, the director of ISA, and Muhamed Pekić, an employee of this agency, that the Intelligence Service of B&amp;H was privatized and worked for the interests of the SDA political party.
Čampara, a Prosecution witness in the case in which Mehmedagic is being tried for abuse of office, said "it is not normal for the OSA director to participate in the SDA's personnel policy", pointing to the indictee's ties to the party leadership.
Čampara confirmed in Court that his advisor Mirela Bubalo informed him of the information that two ISA employees had submitted anonymous criminal charges against director Mehmedagić.

The witness himself confirmed that an anonymous criminal report came to the address of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, which he then forwarded to the jurisdiction of the Federal Police Administration (FPA).
As he said, everyone has the right to file a criminal complaint, and it is true that he told Bubalo, through his advisor, Amina Ohranović, not to worry because she did nothing illegal.
- Illegal things were done by those who abused their position and had the exempt footage from the Post Office published on the Istaga.ba portal. - said Čampara.
Witness Čampara said that by publishing the identity of Councilor Bubalo and discrediting her in the media, the goal was to reach him because he spoke publicly about scandals that shake the party, abuses of the ISA director ..., because it was thought he had endured it.
- I don't know why filing a criminal complaint is a blow to the state. Everyone has the right to submit it - said Čampara.

- I do not hide behind any reports, nor is it true that I am a foreign spy. Whoever did whatever, let the institutions determine, but I want to point out publicly the illegal actions that were done by publishing the recordings on certain portals - said Čampara.
He also said that everyone who came in contact with him was satanized and that his friend from SIPA, Adis Drnda, felt it best on his skin, and he immediately became the subject of security checks.

He also told an interesting detail about the police commissioner of the SC Ministry of the Interior, Nusret Selimović, regarding the anonymous report against director Mehmedagić, which also came to this address.
- Commissioner Nusret Selimović called me and said that director Mehmedagić called him and told him that they knew who submitted that anonymous report. He told me that he was angry with him for sending the report to the Prosecutor's Office of B&amp;H, and not to the Prosecutor's Office of SC - stated Čampara.
This morning, ISA employee Ibrahim Međedović and Čampara's advisor Mirela Bubalo were questioned in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She stated that she had filed criminal charges against the accused Mehmedagić and journalist Avdo Avdić, said due to abuse of office.
- After the video was published in the media where it was claimed that I was exposed to a public lynching, my husband lost his job. That is why I filed a criminal complaint against Mehmedagić and journalist Avdić. In addition, I am a collateral damage in the relations between Mehmedagić and Čampara.
She claimed that Čampara had warned her that anything could happen, given his political status in the SDA and the conflict with the ISA director, but that she did not expect such attacks.

She said that she was given an anonymous criminal report by two ISA employees, who she knows from sight, because they work in the same building as the headquarters of this agency.
- I am asking for criminal prosecution and compensation for all that was done to me, and I filed a criminal complaint against Mehmedagić in the same post office that they claimed I was in and sent the reports - said Bubalo.
She added that she suffered fear after her identity was published in the media with allegations that she had filed charges.
- After my information, address and exact map of the road to my apartment were published on the portal of Osman Mehmedagić's friend, Avdo Avdić, I started receiving various threatening messages. From having to rape and slaughter me onwards. This was done by SDA bots and people close to the accused Mehmedagić. I also had insomnia and got a stress allergy. I contacted a doctor and a psychiatrist. I survived a real lynching - said Bubalo.
Witness Međedović, otherwise the head of the ISA Counterintelligence Department, whose superior is the ISA Deputy Trifko Buha, also confirmed that a hybrid war and secret operations were being waged against the ISA.
He confirmed that ISA had obtained information through operational information that someone had filed a criminal complaint against the director of ISA and that they were thought to be employees of this agency. He said that all operations were approved by the general director - Osman Mehmedagić, but he did not answer why no investigation was launched to determine how the footage from ISA leaked and who submitted it to the media.

After the new evidence published in the media, ie "Dnevni avaz", the Office of the Disciplinary Prosecutor of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of B&amp;H formed a new case against the President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ranko Debevec, it was confirmed today for "Avaz" from this institution.

<h2>Sent questions and answers for the professional exam</h2>

This is the third case in several months against the President of the Court. The new case was formed after the new evidence published in the media, ie "Dnevni Avaz" about the abuses of the leader of the Court of B&amp;H, concerning illegal employment, more precisely the fact that he sent to the trainee questions and answers for the professional exam, which we wrote about two days ago.
- Regarding your inquiry, the Office of the Disciplinary Prosecutor of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina can confirm that, based on media reports, it has formed an ex officio case against the holder of judicial office from your inquiry - we were told by the Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office.
The office will also check Debevec's travels to Spain and whether he misused state resources as the head of this judicial institution, at a time when he was on holiday in Malaga with Amela Ć., with whom he was then in an emotional relationship. In addition, as we wrote, Debevec hid the dual identity and citizenship of the Kingdom of Spain.

Earlier, the cases were formed due to inappropriate contact with the accused director of ISA Osman Mehmedagić, but also report from an anonymous letter published in the media four days ago, regarding the request for Debevec to resign due to numerous abuses of office and fulfillment of wishes of the Director of ISA.

<h2>The reaction of the Prosecutor's Office of B&H is also awaited</h2>

In September, Debevec also received a report from the Office of the Disciplinary Counsel regarding the fact that he had not reported his Spanish citizenship and Spanish name and surname. It is unknown at this time what the Office has done in relation to this report.
Also, the reaction of the Prosecutor's Office of B&amp;H is awaited when it comes to the information that Debevec arranged the employment of an intern in the Court of B&amp;H.
